The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District worked with Sustainable Lighting Solutions (SLS) to replace 20 metal halide fixtures with more energy efficient fixtures in their firehouse. In addition to improved lighting, the station has reduced its energy consumption – and costs – by 75%. Close to 85% of the project's cost was funded by a state grant. Sustainable Lighting Solutions handled all the paperwork for the firehouse in applying for the rebate. The firehouse has increased its light output by almost 50% and eliminated maintenance for more than eight years.
