Energy efficient changes to Chicago-area liquor and wine establishment’s lighting and beverage coolers saved it more than $2,700 annually in utility and maintenance costs, after capturing a $5,000 rebate to fund the project. Sustainable Lighting Solutions (SLS) provided a free assessment of the store’s energy usage, including the efficiency of its beverage coolers and light fixtures. SLS installed a solution that included a total of 34 energy saving fixtures throughout the store and inside the beverage coolers. The changes not only enhanced the store’s lighting and product displays, it decreased its annual energy consumption from 35,206 kWh to 11,297 kWh; an amount equal to $2,500
When it came time for Midco International to upgrade its lighting, it was hoping to secure some energy efficiency incentives to help fund the project. What looked at first to be a straightforward replacement of an array of newer and old fixtures became a project that not only netted Midco tens of thousands of dollars in incentives and lower utility bills, it delivered a significantly better working environment with modern LED technology. Sustainable Lighting Solutions (SLS) President Mike Sweitzer installed an LED solution with sensor technology to reduce energy even further by dimming lights in unused areas.
The lighting at Concentric AB’s manufacturing facility in Rockford, IL was similar to many other large spaces – either too bright or too dark, and certainly too expensive to power and maintain. Switching to a LED solution from SLS not only improved employees’ work environment, it saved the company close to $9k per month in energy and maintenance costs. Currently, Concentric is on track to save on average 750 kilowatt hours annually, which accounts for 1/8 of its energy consumption.
The Chicagoland Laborers’ District Council Training and Apprentice Fund was established in 1986 to provide training and education for Laborers working under the Chicagoland District Council collective bargaining agreement. It operates two training facilities, one in Carol Stream and the second on Chicago's West Side, where it offers members training and education. Lighting at both facilities was inefficient, insufficient, and did little to enhance the learning environment. Sustainable Lighting Solutions installed an LED solution at the Carol Stream facility first, and after the lighting was well received was invited to outfit the Homer Street Facility.
The Palatine Rural Fire Protection District worked with Sustainable Lighting Solutions (SLS) to replace 20 metal halide fixtures with more energy efficient fixtures in their firehouse. In addition to improved lighting, the station has reduced its energy consumption – and costs – by 75%. Close to 85% of the project's cost was funded by a state grant. Sustainable Lighting Solutions handled all the paperwork for the firehouse in applying for the rebate. The firehouse has increased its light output by almost 50% and eliminated maintenance for more than eight years.
Faced with ever diminishing light levels and skyrocketing maintenance costs, Experian looked to Sustainable Lighting Solutions to offer a state of the art solution to their lighting needs. The existing 175 watt Metal Halide lamps were depreciating so quickly that relamping was required every two years . Sustainable Lighting Solutions offered ECO Quad Induction fixtures on a one-to-one replacement, which met all of Experian's project goals: Energy Reduction, Maintenance Reduction, Improved Lighting Levels, Improved Color, and Safety.
Sustainable Lighting Solutions worked with an Alsip, IL warehouse facility to upgrade its lighting, saving more than $26,000 each year in energy and maintenance costs. SLS assessed the facility and recommended replacing existing HID fixtures with Orion T8 Compact Modular High Bay and Low Bay fixtures in the warehouse. SLS also upgraded the company's freezer and cooler areas, replacing existing HID fixtures with energy efficient LED fixtures. SLS increased energy efficiency even further by installing occupancy sensors in the warehouse areas as well as in the freezer and cooler areas.
